About This Opportunity

The Veolia Environmental Trust funds improvements to natural habitats with a vision for a healthy environment where native species can thrive. This grant program supports projects that protect and enhance biodiversity and natural habitats, inspire the creation of sustainable carbon neutral spaces, promote community action and wellbeing, and are inclusive and accessible to everyone. Projects must result in increased biodiversity at the project site while reducing the carbon footprint and working towards carbon neutrality goals. Applicants must demonstrate community consultation and volunteer engagement. The program funds physical improvement works that result in habitat improvements and biodiversity increases, including structural improvements to sites such as woodlands, nature reserves, waterways, or land purchase for nature conservation. Eligible costs include staff costs directly related to completing physical improvements, equipment for project delivery, and land purchase with associated legal fees. Projects must be located within 10 miles of an eligible landfill site in England and must take place on a single site. Applications are accepted from charitable not-for-profit organizations that have been established for at least two years, Environmental Bodies, and Local Authorities. Projects must physically start within four months of being awarded a grant and complete within 12 months. Successful applicants will need to arrange a Contributing Third Party (CTP) payment of 10% of the grant amount to the landfill operator before the grant can be released.
