About this opportunity

The Halim Family Women in STEM Scholarship is part of the Aspire Scholarship Program at The University of Queensland. Established in 2020 by Frank and Swan Halim under the Create Change Scholarship match initiative, this scholarship supports female domestic students experiencing significant financial disadvantage who are commencing undergraduate bachelor programs with a significant component of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The scholarship is specifically designed to support women entering STEM fields who face financial barriers to education. Applicants must demonstrate significant financial disadvantage by achieving the maximum points for the 'Financial Hardship' category of QTAC's Educational Access Scheme and must also be awarded The Queensland Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship is open to students who have not completed any prior tertiary study at bachelor level or higher. Awards are made through a single application process that considers all scholarships in the Aspire Scholarship scheme, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship scheme, and the UQ Residential Scholarship scheme. Selection is based on documented financial situation, number of dependants, and other relevant factors determined by the Selection Committee. The scholarship has a duration of one year, with one award available per cycle.
