About This Opportunity

The Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships support doctoral students conducting research in chemistry as it relates to industry and agriculture at the University of Sydney. Established in 1957 from the estates of Henry Bertie Gritton and his wife Florence Mabel Gritton, the scholarship aims to promote knowledge and study of chemistry in relation to industry and agriculture, including chemistry connected with electrical engineering, metallurgical chemistry, and chemistry in its application to mining and the winning and treatment of minerals and natural products of the soil. The scholarship provides an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Rate for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Recipients must hold an honours degree (first class or second class upper) or a master's degree with a substantial research component in a related field. Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply. Recipients are selected based on academic merit, their research proposal and area of study, curriculum vitae, supervisor support, and a personal statement demonstrating alignment with the scholarship's subject area. The scholarship includes additional benefits such as relocation allowances, thesis allowances, and provisions for recreation leave, sick leave, and parental leave. Recipients may conduct up to 12 months of research overseas if essential for degree completion.
