About this opportunity
This scholarship has been funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) through its Discovery Project scheme to support a PhD candidate conducting research into Chinese temple theatre architecture. The successful candidate will be based at the School of Languages and Cultures, supervised by Professor Xiaohuan Zhao and Professor Duanfang Lu from the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. The scholarship provides a stipend allowance of $27,000 per annum for up to 3 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Applicants must hold a first or upper second class honours or master's degree with a substantial research component in theatre and/or architecture, and be willing to conduct research into Chinese temple theatre architecture. The successful applicant will be selected based on academic merit, research proposal alignment with the ARC-Discovery Project objectives, excellent skills in architectural measurement and analysis, good knowledge of Chinese history, religion and theatre, and demonstrated interest in Chinese temple, theatre and architecture.

Review process
