About this opportunity
This scholarship provides financial assistance to research students undertaking research in new functional CRISPR screens at the University of Sydney. The scholarship focuses on using CRISPR-based technologies to analyse cellular responses at a genome-wide scale to study pain. The program is co-funded by philanthropic funds from Dr John and Anne Chong donation and 2022 Ideas Grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for Prof Graham Neely. The scholarship provides a stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate, indexed annually, for up to 3.5 years subject to satisfactory academic performance. Recipients must be international students enrolled full-time in a PhD within the School of Life and Environmental Science, Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.

Review process
Selection based on academic merit, area of study/research proposal, curriculum vitae, previous research experience, and personal statement demonstrating interest in discovering causes of diseases using cutting-edge technologies. Preference given to applicants with background in Genetics, Molecular Biology, CRISPR screening, Cell Culture, and/or Next generation sequencing.
