About this opportunity

The Shalom Gamarada Scholarship was established in partnership with Shalom Gamarada to provide financial assistance to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students studying full-time at the University of Sydney. The scholarship supports accommodation costs at Mandelbaum College or provides a living allowance stipend for students residing at the college while receiving Abstudy Residential Cost Option accommodation support. The scholarship offers two benefit options depending on the recipient's Abstudy Residential Cost Option application outcome. If unsuccessful in obtaining Abstudy support, the scholarship covers accommodation costs for 42 weeks in the first year and 40 weeks in subsequent years. If successful in obtaining Abstudy support, recipients receive annual cash payments ranging from $31,613 in year one to $36,600 in year four. The scholarship is tenable for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study. Recipients must engage with the Gadigal Centre and participate in support programs including the Mentoring our Brothers and Sisters (MOBS) Program and the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS). Preference is given to applicants who demonstrate financial need and those from regional or rural areas. Applicants must demonstrate their need for accommodation, explain how the scholarship will support their studies, and describe how they hope to contribute to a diverse residential community in a Jewish college. Recipients are required to maintain a minimum semester average mark of 50 and adhere to the University of Sydney Student Charter.
