About this opportunity
The Hoc Mai Vietnam Elective Placement Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to final year medical students at the University of Sydney who are pursuing an Elective Term in Vietnam. The scholarship supports students in their third year of the Doctor of Medicine program who wish to undertake their elective placement in Vietnam.
The scholarship is valued at $3,000 and is paid as a one-off payment. Applications are usually open between May and August for elective placements being undertaken in the following year (January-March). The scholarship provides crucial support for students seeking international medical experience in Vietnam.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, curriculum vitae, references, and a personal statement. The personal statement must describe the elective term details including location and institution, the applicant's goals for the elective term, commitment to study, and why they deserve the scholarship. Applicants may be required to attend an interview. Additionally, travel insurance is provided by the University of Sydney in accordance with University policy.
This scholarship offers medical students the opportunity to gain valuable international clinical experience while receiving financial support for their elective placement in Vietnam. The scholarship is terminated if the recipient withdraws from the course, does not maintain satisfactory academic performance, or is awarded an alternative scholarship of higher value.
