About this opportunity
The Justice Peter Hely Scholarship is a postgraduate scholarship established in 2008 by the University of Sydney Law School through contributions from the friends and colleagues of the Late Justice Peter Hely. The scholarship promotes postgraduate study in the fields of commercial law and equity. The scholarship is valued at $35,000 for one year only and is available to Australian citizens or permanent residents who have completed or are about to complete either an undergraduate or postgraduate law degree at the University of Sydney. Recipients must have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a postgraduate coursework degree or research degree within the Sydney Law School or equivalent institution as approved by the Sydney Law School. The award is based on academic merit, curriculum vitae, personal statement demonstrating interest in commercial law and equity, leadership experience, communication skills, community engagement, and commitment to applying the learning to make a positive difference to community, professional and/or legal practice. For coursework students at the University of Sydney, the scholarship is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester, while research students receive stipend payments over one year.
