About this opportunity
The Thomas Farr Charity was established in 1989, following the sale of the Home Brewery in Nottingham with the aim of supporting registered charities, constituted voluntary and community groups in those areas where the Home Brewery had a presence. The charity provides grants up to £5,000 for project costs and core costs to support charitable work in Nottinghamshire and adjacent areas where the original business operated.
Always having the wishes, thoughts and views of Thomas Farr in mind, a previous Chairman and President of the brewery, the main areas of giving are education, youth, health, and the elderly. The charity supports activities relating to community healthcare, health education, lifelong learning projects, community development, personal social services, social preventive schemes covering crime prevention, and community social activities promoting social engagement for vulnerable people.
The Trustees meet in March, July and November each year with application deadlines of January 20th, May 20th or September 20th respectively. The charity does not make grants to individuals or large national charities, and will not consider loans, business finance, campaigning work, activities that have already taken place, or general appeals. The charity will not donate to activities that are the responsibility of local health, education, or similar authorities.
