About this opportunity
The Tom Austen Brown Honours Scholarship in Archaeology provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking honours studies in First Nations archaeology at the University of Sydney. Established in 2004 and funded by the Tom Austen Brown Bequest, this scholarship recognizes academic merit and commitment to studying First Nations archaeology. The scholarship is valued at $22,000 per annum and is tenable for one year only. Recipients must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Honours) within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, with their honours research area in Archaeology. The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit, confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity, and personal statements demonstrating commitment to the field. The award is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each relevant semester.
