The Heart Research Institute (HRI) offers Higher Degree Research Scholarships for highly motivated New Zealand undergraduates to undertake Masters or PhD research in cardiovascular disease at HRI in Sydney, Australia. The EASS Patrons Higher Degree Research Award is offered annually by the School of Art in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences. Up to four awards may be offered each year. The award is funded by the School of Art Emerging Artists Support Scheme program and provides financial support for two consecutive semesters for continuing doctoral or master's research students.

The Research Training Program (RTP) provides block grants to higher education providers to support both domestic and overseas students undertaking research doctorate and research masters degrees, also known as higher degrees by research (HDRs). The scholarship is automatically awarded to domestic students when admitted to an eligible HDR program at The Australian National University. Students can be offered RTP Scholarships for tuition fees offset, stipend for general living costs, and allowances related to the ancillary cost of research degrees. The RTP Domestic Fee Offset Scholarship specifically covers tuition fees for 4 years for domestic students pursuing postgraduate research degrees at ANU.

This scholarship provides financial support for students pursuing Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programs at Curtin University. The scholarship is awarded through a competitive selection process and is available to both domestic and international students undertaking PhD research across multiple faculties including Business and Law, Health Sciences, Humanities, and Science & Engineering. Recipients receive a stipend to support their living expenses during their research degree, along with tuition fee coverage for domestic students. The scholarship aims to support outstanding graduate students demonstrating strong research potential through their academic record, research outputs, and contributions to their field of research.

The Sir Roland Wilson (SRW) Foundation Pat Turner scholarship (Higher Degree Research) provides high performing Indigenous Australian Public Service (APS) employees a 2-3 year full pay scholarship at ANU to undertake research on topics of national significance. The scholarship is available for all Higher Degree Research programs at ANU that addresses a research topic of national significance and strategic importance or immediate relevance to specific agencies, or the APS more broadly. Scholars enter into a Deed of Agreement with their APS agency stipulating the conditions under which the scholarship will proceed, and are paid their normal salary by their agency. Taxation, superannuation and other employment conditions continue to apply. Scholars completing a PhD program have access to an international travel stipend of up to $40,000. All scholars also have access to a professional development fund of up to $5,000 over the course of the scholarship.

The RSSS Director's Award for Higher Degree Research is a prestigious top-up scholarship offered by the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. This award is designed to support the top-ranked Higher Degree Research applicant enrolling full-time in a Doctor of Philosophy program within the Research School of Social Sciences. The award provides an annual stipend of $20,000 (up to 75% of the Australian Government Research Training Program Stipend value) for one year, with payments distributed per semester. Two awards are available annually, and recipients are selected based on academic merit without requiring a separate application. The scholarship complements the Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Stipend Scholarship and is available to both domestic and international PhD students. Continued funding is dependent on satisfactory achievement of key PhD milestones including Annual Plans, Reports, and Thesis Proposal Review. Recipients have flexibility in how they use the funds to support their doctoral research. The award demonstrates the Research School of Social Sciences' commitment to attracting and supporting high-achieving doctoral candidates in social sciences research.

These grants are available to fund a master's degree by research in veterinary medicine and related fields. BSAVA PetSavers provides funding up to a maximum of £42,000 to support postgraduate students pursuing research-based master's degrees. The funding covers postgraduate student stipend at BBSRC standard rates (with veterinary stipend option available), payment of university fees, and equipment, consumables and research-specific staffing costs up to £10,000 including VAT depending on the project nature. Applications must be made by prospective academic supervisors of the student rather than the students themselves. Applicants do not need to be qualified veterinary professionals, but should have a level of veterinary experience appropriate for the project. Grantees can apply either with a named prospective research student or before advertising for a student. The project must be carried out in the UK. The acceptance rate for this grant type over the last 10 years is 32%. The use of experimental animals is not permitted in any work funded by BSAVA PetSavers, including work on tissues derived from experimental animals. Applications require completion of an application form with checklist, three reviewer contacts, truncated CVs, letter of support from head of department or practice principal, ethical approval documentation, and signed terms and conditions.

The Research Training Program (RTP) International Fee Offset Scholarship is funded annually by the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training to support international students undertaking Higher Degree Research programs at Australian National University. The scholarship covers full tuition fees for the duration of the research degree, providing comprehensive support for international doctoral and research master's candidates. The program aims to attract high-quality international students to pursue research aligned with ANU's research strategy. Candidates are selected through a competitive merit-based ranking process, evaluated on academic excellence and research potential. The scholarship provides three and a half years of tuition fee coverage with possibilities for extension, along with overseas student health cover for the student and their immediate family members.

Funded by the Australian Government, Department of Education and Training, the International Research Training Program Scholarship (IRTP) is open to highly ranked, newly commencing Research Degree students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and research potential. The IRTP covers the tuition fees, the cost of a standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the scholarship holder, their spouse and dependants (if any), and a living stipend at the minimum Australian Government established indexed rate. The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for international students pursuing higher degrees by research (Master by Research or PhD) at the University of Technology Sydney. The award covers up to 3.5 years for PhD students and 2 years for Master by Research students, including full tuition fee coverage, a living allowance of $39,000 per annum (tax-free, commencing from 01 January 2026), and overseas health cover for the scholarship holder and their family. Recipients must be overseas students as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 and cannot be receiving equivalent awards exceeding 75% of the IRTP stipend rate.

The Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships support Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students at Curtin University. These scholarships are centrally awarded to domestic and international students pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees. To apply, candidates must first obtain an Invitation to Apply from a registered Curtin supervisor. The scholarship application process involves submitting an Expression of Interest between July and August, obtaining supervisor endorsement, and submitting an admission application by October. The program is funded by the Australian Government and follows specific eligibility requirements, selection processes, and ranking procedures outlined in the RTP Scholarship Procedures. Successful recipients receive stipend support and must enrol by March of the following year. The scholarship is designed to support research students throughout their HDR candidature, with specific conditions for both new and current Curtin HDR students who do not currently receive base stipend support.

The SmartSat CRC is inviting expressions of interest for Higher Degrees by Research (Masters & PhD) scholarships. Successful candidates will be enrolled with RMIT and will work on applied R&D which aligns with the SmartSat CRC's research priorities. Full and top-up scholarships, of up to 3 years maximum duration, are available to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students who participate in the SmartSat Education and Training Program. Students are expected to work on applied R&D which align with SmartSat research programs. The supervision team will normally comprise of the Principal Supervisor from the host university and, where practical, an academic co-supervisor from another SmartSat partner university, and/or a co-supervisor from a relevant SmartSat end-user or Industry partner. All students will benefit from being part of the graduate network and an extensive professional development program that includes opportunities to participate in the SmartSat conference series and networking events. SmartSat CRC students will also benefit from being part of an organisation that links research and industry, with opportunities to undertake periods of placement with industry and end-user partners.

UNE is seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholars wanting to carry out research in areas of research priority for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Research projects should be interdisciplinary in nature, and work across areas such as rural medicine, health, psychology, education, social work, public policy, law, criminology and sociology. This scholarship provides financial support for three years for a Doctoral degree or two years for a Research Masters. The scholarship value is $37,510 per annum (2022 rate), and candidates will be eligible to apply for an additional $7,000 per year for cultural supervision and/or mentoring through Research Services. The program offers 10 scholarships and aims to support Indigenous researchers in conducting meaningful research that addresses community priorities.

Two or more scholarships will be awarded to current or entering, academically outstanding master's degree students who self-identify as Trans, Nonbinary, or Two-Spirit and who are pursuing research in any field, including creative or performative activity. Preference will be given to students who have not previously received an award from the Chair in Transgender Studies, and who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship supports graduate students at the University of Victoria pursuing their master's degree research across any academic discipline. The minimum requirement for consideration is an A- average, and recipients must be full-time graduate students unless otherwise noted.

This is a Summer Research Scholarship project offered through Victoria University of Wellington's Summer Research Scholarship Programme. The project focuses on investigating the degree structure of computable presentations of the unit interval in computable analysis. In classical analysis, topological spaces being equivalent up to homeomorphism forms an equivalence relation. However in computable analysis, the computable homeomorphism relation induces a preorder on presentations of the space, which is not well understood even for simple structures like the unit interval. The research will investigate this degree structure to better understand its computable presentations. This is a single-student project supervised by Dr. Sasha Melnikov, Associate Professor in Mathematics at the School of Mathematics and Statistics. The project will be conducted mainly at the University's campus locations in Wellington.

These scholarships will be awarded to Indigenous students of exceptional research promise to undertake a higher degree by research at La Trobe University. This scholarship is awarded alongside the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship, which provides a stipend, Offset and Allowance. The scholarship supports Masters by research or doctoral research on any topic and provides comprehensive financial support including a base stipend, a special top-up stipend, research support grant, fees offset, and relocation assistance. Recipients will have opportunities to work with La Trobe's outstanding researchers and access their suite of professional development programs. The scholarship is specifically designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students pursuing research degrees.

The Stephen and Helen Wurm Fieldwork Grant supports linguistic fieldwork for lesser-known and lesser-described languages of the Asia-Pacific region. The grant is available to ANU students enrolled in Higher Degree by Research programs in Linguistics, Anthropology or related fields who are conducting fieldwork on lesser-known and lesser-described languages in the Asia-Pacific region. The grant provides funding between $2,500 and $7,000, with maximum funding determined by travel location and duration of fieldwork. Applications are accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis. Students may receive the grant up to two times during their program of study. Five grants are awarded annually.

This scholarship is awarded to current or entering academically outstanding doctoral degree students who are pursuing trans-related research in any field, including creative or performative activity. Priority will be given to students who self-identify as Trans, Nonbinary, or Two-Spirit. Further preference will be given to students who have not previously received an award from the Chair in Transgender Studies, and who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship provides $5,000 to support doctoral research in transgender studies across any academic discipline. Students must complete an application form and submit it to the Faculty of Graduate Studies by May 31.

Bond University is committed to providing a culturally safe and supportive learning environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students where they can progress and complete a higher degree education program. This scholarship provides financial support for Indigenous students undertaking doctoral research programs at Bond University. The scholarship includes a stipend for up to three years at $33,511 per annum (indexed annually) and Indigenous Scholarship applicants are already entitled to a 100% fee waiver under the Australian Government Research Training Program. This funding opportunity is designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in completing PhD programs or Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degrees while studying full-time.

The Business School Supplementary Research Scholarship (BSSRS) is designed to support outstanding Higher Degree by Research students at the University of Sydney Business School who have been awarded an external research scholarship. The scholarship provides a supplementary annual stipend allowance equivalent to the difference between the primary scholarship and the University's nominated RTP (Research Training Program) rate during the tenure of the primary scholarship. The scholarship also covers Student Services and Amenities Fees (SSAF) and may include tuition fees for international students. Recipients do not need to apply separately as they are automatically considered upon being awarded a primary stipend scholarship. The BSSRS can convert to a primary scholarship if the original primary scholarship duration is shorter than the maximum tenure. The scholarship may be held for up to 14 research periods (full-time) for Research Doctorate studies, or up to 7 research periods (full-time) for Research Masters studies, subject to satisfactory academic progress and completion of research milestones.

The Foundation HDR Scholarships at Federation University Australia provide financial support to Higher Degree by Research students. These scholarships are valued at $7,000 and are available to both domestic and international continuing students pursuing research degrees. The program offers four scholarships annually across multiple campuses including Ballarat, Berwick, Gippsland, Online, and Wimmera locations. The scholarships are part of the Foundation scholarship category at the university, supporting students engaged in higher degree research programs.
