Målgruppen er lærebedrifter med lærlinger og lærekandidater som har et definert tilretteleggingsbehov, og ordningen forutsetter at lærlingen/lærekandidaten har rett til videregående opplæring etter opplæringsloven kapittel 5 (til og med 24 år). Tilskuddet deles inn i tre grupper basert på timebehov per uke: Gruppe 1 (1-4 timer), Gruppe 2 (5-6 timer), og Gruppe 3 (7-9 timer). Søknaden skal utarbeides i samarbeid mellom søker og rådgiver i fag- og yrkesopplæringsseksjonen, og den ekstra tilretteleggingen skal bidra til å nå planlagt sluttkompetanse. Tilskuddet utbetales samtidig med det ordinære tilskuddet til lærebedrifter to ganger per år.
