The grant addresses researchers based at host institutions in Sweden who scored among the best in the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant call yet narrowly missed out on funding due to limited available ERC funding. The funding is equivalent to an ERC Starting Grant, aiming to enable groundbreaking research and provide recipients with a competitive advantage for future ERC applications. Since its launch in 2015, the program has funded 30 fellows.
