About this opportunity

The Alexander D Strang Scholarship in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering provides financial support to commencing undergraduate students from regional or remote areas of Australia who are pursuing a degree in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. This scholarship was generously donated by Alexander D. Strang in 2008 to develop links with rural and regional communities and encourage students from these communities to study chemical and biomolecular engineering at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is valued at $6,418 AUD and is tenable for one year only. Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents who are recent school leavers qualifying for entry into an undergraduate degree, including combined degrees, offered by the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit as demonstrated by performance in the NSW HSC or equivalent, along with evidence of primary residential address in a rural, regional, or remote area of Australia. Applicants of the E12 Scheme are automatically considered for this scholarship without needing to complete a separate application form. To continue receiving the scholarship, recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester and remain enrolled full-time in an eligible degree program. The scholarship amount is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.
