About this opportunity
The Greenberg-Gurney-Jensen Fund 2 is a scholarship established to assist the training of outstanding students in classical music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. Established in 2005 through a donation from Dr Harris Phillip Greenberg, this scholarship supports students studying classical music, including early music and opera studies. Students studying jazz and popular music are not eligible.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, personal statement, demonstrated evidence of disadvantage, and/or portfolio and performance. For postgraduate research applicants, the scholarship may also be awarded based on research achievements and potential. Applicants may be required to attend an interview, and the final selection is made by the Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Dean and will be stipulated in the scholarship offer letter to successful recipients. For coursework students, payment is made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. For postgraduate research students, the scholarship is paid as a stipend on a fortnightly basis. The scholarship can be awarded as either a merit-based or equity-based scholarship.
Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance (minimum WAM of 65 for coursework students) and continue full-time enrollment to retain the scholarship. The scholarship is not deferrable and is subject to the availability of funds.
