About This Opportunity

The Julie Alley Bursary is awarded to postgraduate students undertaking research in the Wildlife and Ecology Group at Massey University's Manawatū campus who are facing financial hardship. Julie Alley died in 1996 at age 28, having graduated from Massey University with a Master of Science in Ecology. She was fully committed to the conservation of New Zealand's indigenous flora and fauna, working for three years as a research scientist. The bursary honors her memory by supporting students engaged in ecology and conservation research. Selection is primarily based on demonstrated financial need, though academic achievements are also considered. Preference may be given to those working on field-based conservation projects as part of a team. Up to two awards of up to $10,000 NZD each are available annually for one year's duration.
