About this opportunity
The Longworth Scholarship for the Juris Doctor is a postgraduate coursework scholarship established in 1998 by the generous bequest of the late Barbara Irene Longworth. This scholarship is designed to assist exemplary and financially disadvantaged law students to further their career in law by pursuing the Juris Doctor program at the University of Sydney Law School.
The scholarship provides financial support of $20,000 per annum and is tenable for up to three years. It is awarded based on academic merit, a personal statement demonstrating financial need, and demonstrated financial hardship. Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents with an unconditional offer of full-time admission to the Juris Doctor program.
To maintain the scholarship, recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester and continue full-time study. The scholarship value is paid in two equal installments after the census date of each semester. Deferral is not permitted without prior agreement of the Dean, and the scholarship is not transferable to another university school, faculty, or institution.
