About This Opportunity

The Pitt Cobbett Scholarship is an undergraduate and postgraduate coursework scholarship designed to support students in need of financial assistance to study law at the University of Sydney Law School. Established by a bequest from Professor Pitt Cobbett, the first Chair of Law in 1890 and first Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney, this scholarship combines separate gifts that share the same terms and conditions. The scholarship provides financial support to students enrolled full-time in either an undergraduate Combined Law degree, the Juris Doctor program, or a Postgraduate Coursework Program at the University of Sydney Law School. The primary requirement is that applicants must be able to demonstrate financial hardship through a personal statement. The scholarship is valued at up to $5,000 and is awarded as a one-off payment. The final value awarded is determined by a selection committee consisting of the Head of School and Dean of the University of Sydney Law School, along with at least one other member of staff from the School. The amount granted is based on the level of financial hardship demonstrated by the applicant. This scholarship aims to remove financial barriers and enable deserving students to pursue their legal education at one of Australia's leading law schools.
