About this opportunity
The Wigram Allen Scholarship for the Juris Doctor Award is a postgraduate coursework scholarship offered by the University of Sydney Law School. The scholarship was originally founded on gifts from Sir George Wigram Allen in 1867 and 1883, with the aim to encourage the study of law. These funds are now used to provide commencing scholarships for students entering the Juris Doctor Program.
The scholarship is valued at $8,000 per annum and is awarded based on academic merit and a personal statement demonstrating leadership experience and commitment to community service. It is tenable for the normal full-time duration of the degree and paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.
To be eligible, applicants must have an unconditional offer of full-time admission into the Juris Doctor Program within the University of Sydney Law School and be high academic achievers. Students who have already commenced their JD studies or are transferring from other programs are not eligible. Recipients must maintain full-time enrolment and a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 to continue receiving the scholarship.
