About This Opportunity

The Peter Coloe Scholarship is named after Professor Peter Coloe, a long-serving senior staff member at RMIT University with over 25 years of service. The scholarship aims to assist final year students in biotechnology, biomedical or engineering programs who are particularly hindered by financial circumstances which are impeding their ability to study. Professor Coloe has made a prolific and significant contribution to understanding, detecting and controlling infectious diseases, with over 160 publications and three worldwide patents to his name. This scholarship provides financial support to students who can demonstrate financial hardship and other circumstances which impact their study. Eligible circumstances include living with a disability, long-term medical condition or identifying as neurodivergent; experiencing personal, family or social difficulties; being from an interstate or rural/regional area and relocating to Melbourne; having previously or currently living in foster/kinship care; or being from an under-represented background including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, migrants from non-English backgrounds, refugees, or students who completed secondary school at a School Network Access Program school. Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, or permanent humanitarian visa holders, enrolling full-time in their final year of a biotechnology, biomedical or engineering diploma or undergraduate degree at RMIT University. The scholarship is designed to help students graduate by alleviating financial burdens that might otherwise prevent them from completing their studies.
