About this opportunity

The Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Warlpiri Cultural Heritage Materials has been established to support an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student to conduct research on Warlpiri cultural heritage materials. This scholarship is supported by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) at the University of Sydney and is specifically designed to enable research directly related to the return of cultural heritage materials to Warlpiri communities. The scholarship provides a living allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney's Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate, indexed annually on January 1st, for up to 14 research periods for PhD candidates. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in a PhD at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and must be prepared to undertake fieldwork in remote communities and work closely with Warlpiri families. Selection is based on academic merit, research experience, academic references, and curriculum vitae. The scholarship is awarded by the Pro Vice Chancellor (Research Training) on the recommendation of Dr Georgia Curran. Recipients receive standard academic leave entitlements including recreation leave, sick leave, and parental leave provisions.
