About This Opportunity

The Peter Nicol Russell Undergraduate Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program established in 1896 by Sir Peter Nicol Russell to encourage higher education in mechanical and mechatronic engineering. The scholarship provides financial support of $6,000 per year for up to four years to Australian citizens or permanent residents who are commencing a Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Sydney. Recipients must have completed or be completing their final year of high school (within 3 years prior to commencement, unless engaged in engineering-related employment or study) and must enrol full-time in the Faculty of Engineering. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit from the HSC or equivalent examination results, as well as a personal statement. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. This scholarship represents over a century of support for engineering education and is designed to attract high-achieving students to the mechanical and mechatronic engineering fields. The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other Faculty of Engineering scholarships valued at $6,000 or more per annum. Combined degrees are not eligible for this scholarship, and it is not transferable to other schools, faculties, or universities.
