About This Opportunity

The Rabbi Brasch Bursary is a scholarship established in 2018 to provide financial assistance to students studying medicine at the University of Sydney through the Doctor of Medicine program. This bursary has been generously donated by Liselotte Brasch to support commencing Doctor of Medicine students who demonstrate financial hardship and face additional disadvantages. The bursary is specifically designed to help students who are experiencing financial need and who demonstrate one or more of the following: regional or remote disadvantage, low socioeconomic status, or identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in the first year of the Doctor of Medicine program. The scholarship is valued at $25,500 per annum and is tenable for the full-time duration of four years of the Doctor of Medicine program, providing a total value of $102,000. The annual value is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester, subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory academic performance. The bursary will be awarded by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Medical School, or their nominated delegates, based on academic merit, demonstrated financial hardship, and meeting at least one of the disadvantage criteria. This scholarship aims to make medical education more accessible to students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds.
