About this opportunity
The Jim Wolfensohn Scholarship supports students from rural high schools who are experiencing financial hardship and other disadvantages to undertake an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney. This scholarship was established from a gift from Chancellor Belinda Hutchinson, AC and Mr Roger Massy-Greene, AM and is intended to support rural students who have experienced disadvantage. The scholarship is valued at $8,000 per annum and is tenable for the normal duration of the recipient's degree (including combined degrees), for up to five years. Eligible students must be Australian citizens or permanent residents who are school leavers attending a rural high school identified by the UAC educational disadvantage code 'SO1C' and have experienced financial hardship and one or more categories of disadvantage including severe family disruption, excessive family responsibilities, personal injury/disability, refugee status, school environment, or socio-economic disadvantage. Recipients are selected based on academic merit, demonstrated financial hardship and disadvantages, a personal statement, and an interview.
