About this opportunity
The Provost's Scholarship is a premier merit scholarship for first-year, first-time students who are residents of Utah or non-residents from states other than those eligible for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Tuition Rate. The scholarship provides $8,000 per academic year ($4,000 per semester for fall and spring semesters) to help cover tuition and mandatory fees for full-time students. The scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters or until the student receives a baccalaureate degree, whichever comes first.
Eligible students must have an unweighted, cumulative high school grade point average of 3.90-3.99 on a 4-point scale at the time of application and must complete their admissions application by December 1, 2025. To maintain the scholarship, students must enroll full-time (at least 12 credit hours) each semester, maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and complete at least 24 credit hours during each academic year (fall and spring semesters combined).
The scholarship is administered by the University Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid (UOSFA) and the Office of Admissions at the University of Utah. Beginning Fall 2026, the Office of Admissions serves as the determining office for university merit scholarships. Students must confirm their intent to enroll to accept the scholarship award and its terms by May 1, 2026.
This scholarship cannot be combined with other university non-need-based merit awards, with exceptions for the For Utah Scholarship or the Utah Promise Scholarship. The award applies only to enrollment at the University of Utah's main campus during fall and spring semesters and covers tuition and mandatory fees but not course fees or program fees.
