About This Opportunity

The Charles Medal in Anatomy was established in 1909 through a donation from John James Charles, MD, FRSE, formerly Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Queen's College Cork. The medal is awarded annually for competition among students pursuing programs in Anatomy at University College Cork. In 1960, the Governing Body decided to provide two separate medals annually - one for Anatomy and one for Physiology. The Charles Medal in Anatomy is awarded to the student achieving the highest aggregate mark in the First University Anatomy Prize Examination, available only to those whose marks are among the top 10% of First Year medical students in Anatomy. The medal is only awarded when high merit has been demonstrated by the candidates.
