About this opportunity

The McCaughey Memorial Institute PhD Scholarship provides financial assistance to research students who are undertaking research in the field of ovine footrot at the University of Sydney. The Scholarship is available to both domestic and international students who are enrolled full-time in a Masters by Research or PhD within the Sydney School of Veterinary Science. This Scholarship offers a stipend allowance of $37,250 per annum (fixed amount) for up to 1.75 years for Masters by Research recipients or up to 3.5 years for PhD recipients. The funding is specifically designated for research focused on ovine footrot, a significant concern in veterinary science and livestock health. Applicants must hold an honours degree (First class or Second Class upper) or a Masters Degree in a related field with a substantial research component, or equivalent qualifications. Selection is based on academic merit, area of study and/or research proposal, curriculum vitae, and previous research experience including publications. The Scholarship recipient receives standard leave entitlements including 20 working days recreation leave and up to 10 working days sick leave per year. The Scholarship is funded by The McCaughey Memorial Institute and is awarded on the nomination of the Head of School, Sydney School of Veterinary Science in consultation with relevant research supervisors. Recipients may conduct up to 12 months of their research outside Australia with appropriate approval, though research overseas is not normally permitted within the first six months of the award.
