UHI Perth Scholarship Fund

The UHI Perth Scholarship Fund provides £1,000 scholarships to support current UHI Perth students who wish to advance to their next year of study. The fund is designed to provide a helping hand to talented students to progress their studies and reach their goals. Scholarships are available to students currently registered at UHI Perth, including NC Level 6, HNC, HND, and year one, two and three undergraduate degree students. Thomas and Margaret Roddan Trust Bursary

The Thomas and Margaret Roddan Trust Bursary is external funding intended for students experiencing unexpected financial hardship through no fault of their own. This includes unforeseen or unexpected circumstances that arise during their studies. The bursary is designed to cover expenditure arising from unexpected circumstances, rather than planned course costs. Eligible students include undergraduates in their second year or above, postgraduate students undertaking taught courses, or postgraduate students engaged in research for a higher degree. The bursary is specifically not available to Further Education students or first-year undergraduate students. Expenditure which should have been planned at the outset of the course, such as required periods abroad or mandatory field courses and placements, are not eligible for funding.

The SWAN Digital Bursary Fund is generously supported by British Telecommunications PLC and provides £1,000 bursaries to support current students who wish to advance to their next year of study. The fund is focused on students working towards any qualification that would lead to a career working with digital technology. Digital technology is now part of almost every career, including social care, healthcare, creative industries, engineering, construction, business, accounting, environmental science, and rural studies. The bursaries are paid in two installments each semester and are awarded based on academic success and potential, financial situation, and career potential in the digital technology sector. The fund is open to all UHI students studying FE, HE, and postgraduate courses who will be continuing their studies from September 2026, including both UK/EU and non-EU students, and both full-time and part-time students.

Student Development Fund, funded by RES

The Student Development Fund, funded by RES, provides financial support for students to seize opportunities and build their personal development while making the most of their student experience. This fund is available to all registered UHI students to help them participate in activities that will enhance their studies and student experience, such as attending courses, workshops, visiting galleries and museums, and much more. The application activity should be in connection to the student's current course but should not be part of the curriculum. Students are required to explain how they will benefit and how the opportunity will enhance their student experience. Applications require a signed recommendation and grants are made entirely at the discretion of the panel. There is only one application round each academic year, and late or retrospective applications will not be eligible.

St Andrews Society of New York State Scholarship Fund

The St Andrews Society of New York State offers scholarships to enable Scottish graduates to study for one year in the United States. For the 2024-25 academic year, the Society will offer up to two scholarships of up to $35,000 each, totaling $70,000. The monetary value of each scholarship is applied first to payment of tuition fees at universities within 250 miles of New York City or within the Washington DC area. Preference is given to candidates with no previous US experience for whom study abroad can be expected to be a life-changing experience. Selection is based on an all-round assessment including character, experience, and academic achievement. South Asia Scholarship

The South Asia Scholarship is a 10% tuition fee discount applied at the offer stage to all applicants of undergraduate programmes of at least one year in duration whose permanent residence is in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, or Sri Lanka. Sidney Black Memorial Engineering Award

The Sidney Black Memorial Engineering Award is a £500 annual award given to inspire new female engineers to achieve their full potential. Rural and Islands Bursary Fund

The Rural and Islands Bursary Fund offers existing UHI students the opportunity to apply for up to £1,000 of support for their studies. Thanks to the generosity of the Witherby Publishing Group Charitable Trust, this fund supports at least 10 students from rural and isolated communities in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The bursary is designed to be as flexible as possible to meet the various needs of UHI's rural and island students. Bursaries will be awarded for specific aspects of a student's studies which they would otherwise be unable to participate in. Reid Endowment Fund

International Students Emergency Fund

Highland Society of London Prize

A financial prize awarded annually to the student with the undergraduate dissertation of the year in the Humanities and Gaelic subject network on a Highlands and Islands theme. The winning dissertation must be directly related to a social, cultural, environmental or historical aspect of the Highlands and Islands. This prize is sponsored by the Highland Society of London, a charity founded in 1778 whose activities promote and support the traditions and culture of the Highlands of Scotland. There is no application process; eligible students are nominated by programme leaders in consultation with the subject network leader. The winner is notified at the end of June once degree results are known.

Higher Education Childcare Fund

The Higher Education Childcare Fund is a non-repayable grant for full-time students at the University of the Highlands and Islands to assist in meeting the cost of childcare whilst they attend university. The funds are paid in addition to any other forms of student support and applicants are expected to take reasonable steps to maximise income and minimise expenditure whilst undertaking their course. Applications are processed and payments made at the individual academic partner. For part-time or postgraduate students, assistance for childcare costs will be considered from the Higher Education Discretionary (Hardship) Fund instead. Dorothy Dunnett Centenary Awards

Supported by the Dorothy Dunnett Society, the Dorothy Dunnett Centenary Awards comprise two annual awards for research in history, politics, culture or religion in the 11th, 15th and 16th centuries. The awards consist of a £1,000 award and a £500 award. The awards are open for applications from current research students at the University of the Highlands and Islands. Aquaculture Support Scheme

Thanks to the generous support from the Scottish Aquaculture Research Forum (SARF), funds have been gifted to the University of the Highlands and Islands for the benefit of Aquaculture students to help facilitate the student's learning journey. The scheme is open to students currently studying, or about to begin their aquaculture career/studies in its broadest sense, including research, innovation, education, supply chain, and regulation.
