Funding Opportunities

UAL Bursaries

UAL Bursaries of £1,450 are available to all eligible students with Home fee status studying on undergraduate courses at the University of the Arts London. The bursaries are linked to a student's application for government funding from their local funding body including Student Finance England (SFE), Student Finance Wales (SFW), Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI), or Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS). There is no competitive element to UAL Bursaries, so all students who meet the eligibility criteria will receive one. Students do not need to make a separate application for the UAL Bursary as they are automatically assessed based on their government funding application. Eligible students will receive all £1,450 of the UAL Bursary directly into their bank account in December, with notifications sent out by the end of November.

The Sanctuary Undergraduate Scholarship

The Peter Farley Award

The Peter Farley Award provides £6,000 each to 2 Home students for maintenance and living expenses. Recipients must be accepted on the BA (Hons) Theatre Design at Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL. The award is generously supported by the estate of Peter Farley, who was a theatre designer, exhibition curator, academic and teacher. Peter's career embraced a wide range of different areas of design and performance, and he was an inspirational teacher. The award is presented alongside the Peter Farley Internship, a year-long part-time internship with professional theatre design studio Good Teeth. This combined support was established to help graduating students transition into the theatre design industry after graduation, assisting with costs associated with gaining professional experience during their first year post-graduation. Recipients must be enrolled in the final year of the full-time BA (Hons) Theatre Design course, starting in September 2025 and graduating in June 2026, and must demonstrate strong model-making, research and technical drawing skills.

Sarabande MA Fashion Scholarship

The Sarabande MA Fashion Scholarship provides £31,994 in funding to one student accepted on the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. The scholarship was established by the late Lee Alexander McQueen CBE through the Sarabande Foundation to provide students experiencing financial hardship with equal opportunity to study fashion. The scholarship will be assessed on the basis of financial need and academic merit, providing a contribution of £15,994 towards tuition fees and £16,000 towards course costs and living expenses. The Foundation offers scholarships to ensure that the creative talent of gifted, yet disadvantaged students, can flourish in their academic studies and creative development. Applications are encouraged from students who are unable to finance themselves through their studies but are gifted with an abundance of talent and dare to challenge the status quo. Applicants must have a raw, original talent complemented by a strong drive to succeed in the fashion industry.

Rodney Fitch Bursary

The Rodney Fitch Bursary of £3,000 is available to 1 Home student currently enrolled on the first year of the MA Industrial Design course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. The bursary will be assessed on the basis of financial need and academic merit. It will provide a contribution towards course costs and living expenses for the length of the course. Rodney Arthur Fitch (1938-2014) was a retail design entrepreneur who studied architecture and building, furniture, interior and theatre design at various London colleges of art and design, including Central Saint Martins. In 1972 Rodney founded his firm, Fitch and Company Design Consultants, which as Fitch grew to become one of the largest and best-known design brands. Rodney had a commitment to education and was influential on advisory and trustee boards including St Martins School of Art and University of the Arts London. Moorhouse Scholarships

The Moorhouse Scholarships are awards of £10,000 each available to 4 Home or International students accepted on the MA Textile Design course at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. The scholarships provide a contribution of £5,000 towards course tuition fees and £5,000 towards living expenses. The Moorhouse Bursary and Scholarship Programme has been established at UAL in accordance with Tessa Moorhouse's wishes to continue to provide support for the causes which she and her husband Rodney championed for the benefit of future generations of students. Rodney Moorhouse was a textile designer and photographer who studied and taught at both Camberwell and Chelsea Colleges of Arts in the 1960s and 1970s. His wife, Tessa, was a judge who specialised in children's rights. Despite suffering serious injuries in a road accident early in their careers, Rodney and his wife Tessa devoted their lives to helping young artists and to combatting inequality. The Scholarships will be assessed on the basis of financial need and academic merit. The Monsoon Accessorize MA Fashion Futures Student Scholarship of £25,000 is available to 1 student accepted on the MA Fashion Futures course at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. The Moncler Scholarship of £40,000 provides a contribution to one Home or International student for tuition fees, course costs and living expenses. Manolo Blahnik Scholarship

The Manolo Blahnik Scholarship of up to £40,890 is available to one student accepted on first year of the BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear and Accessories course at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. The Manolo Blahnik Foundation was launched in 2022 with the aim to make a meaningful difference across three key pillars: mental health and wellbeing, the welfare of animals and supporting new generations in the arts. The Foundation is committed to making a meaningful difference to students studying in the creative industries. The scholarships will be assessed on the basis of financial need and academic potential. It will provide course tuition fees of £9,535 per annum for a home student or £30,890 per annum for an international student with a contribution of £10,000 per annum towards living expenses and course costs for the duration of the course, except for the placement year. Leathersellers Awards

The Leathersellers Awards provide financial prizes to students at University of the Arts London studying fashion bags, accessories, footwear, and artefact courses. Four separate awards are offered: the Leathersellers Emerging Talent Award (£750) for second year BA students, the Leathersellers Designer of the Year Award (£1000) for final year BA students, the Leathersellers BA Archive Award (£1500) for final year BA students in exchange for collection pieces, and the Leathersellers MA Archive Award (£2000) for final year MA students in exchange for collection pieces. Students cannot apply directly but must be nominated by their tutors based on demonstrated talent, academic merit, and commercial acumen. The awards are provided by The Leathersellers' Company, one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London founded in 1444, which now devotes its energies to supporting charity, education, and the British leather trade.

The L'Wren Scott Fashion Scholarship is a prestigious award of £31,310 available to one Home student accepted to the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Jane Rapley Scholarship

The Jane Rapley Scholarship provides financial support to postgraduate students at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Two scholarships of £5,000 each are available to Home or International students currently enrolled on an MA, MRes, or MArch course. The scholarship has been established in honour of Jane Rapley, the former Head of College at Central Saint Martins, to help support postgraduate students and ensure the college continues its strong tradition of providing outstanding education for future generations of talented art, design, and drama students. Applications are by nomination only, with course leaders sending nominations and references to the Student Funding Team, who then contact nominated students with application information. The scholarship is assessed based on financial need and academic merit, and is awarded to those who have the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution in their chosen field. Holmes Production Scholarship

The Holmes Production Scholarship of £8,000 is available to 1 Home student from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background accepted on the first year of studies on the BA Fashion Communication course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Founded in 2010 by producer Laura Holmes, Holmes Production is an independent Creative Production company dedicated to creativity, artistry and the power of image. Laura Holmes has partnered with UAL and established the Holmes Production Scholarship to financially support talented students from diverse low income backgrounds who might otherwise be deterred from studying at Central Saint Martins. This scholarship will provide maintenance support for a first-year student entering the BA Fashion Communication course at Central Saint Martins in September 2026. The Holmes Production Scholarship will open up opportunities to talented creatives from underrepresented communities with the intention of advancing equality and inclusion in the fashion industry. The scholarship will be assessed on the basis of financial need and academic merit. It will provide a contribution towards maintenance costs for the first year of the course. Global Outlook Award

The Global Outlook Award is an initiative aimed at providing London College of Fashion students with an international support network, which develops key creative and business skills in a global market. The Fund is intended to help students who have genuine and unavoidable financial difficulties and are struggling with their living costs despite having received all financial support available to them. The Fund acts as a safety net for students in financial difficulty rather than their main source of income. The fund provides a contribution towards course costs and living expenses, paid in one installment to award recipients via BACS.

Students cannot apply directly; they will be nominated by their tutors and must pitch to a panel of judges, one of whom will be a member of the Cordwainers' Company.

The award is assessed based on both financial need and academic merit, with applications welcome from students in financial hardship who will benefit from undergraduate studies to realize their full potential. For Home students, the bursary provides a contribution towards tuition fees, course costs, and living expenses, while International students receive a contribution to tuition fees only. Tuition fees are paid directly to the University, and living expenses for Home students are paid in termly instalments via BACS.

These bursaries are awarded to students currently enrolled on BA (Hons) Cordwainers Fashion Bags and Accessories or BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear at London College of Fashion. The awards are presented strictly based on financial need and eligible students either satisfy the University's hardship fund criteria or come via the Widening Participation route. Students cannot apply directly; instead, they will be nominated by their tutors based on financial need, merit (such as attendance and effort), and participation in the LCF outreach programme. The award contributes to tuition fees and is awarded in the third term of the academic year.

Cordwainers Archive Award

The Cordwainers Archive Award is a financial prize of £1500 awarded to a final year student on the BA Cordwainers Footwear Course at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. This award is given in return for a piece of their collection to be acquired for prosperity for the LCF Archives. The award helps to fund the students' main final major project and is designed to support students who demonstrate academic merit and commercial acumen required to succeed within the footwear industry upon graduation. The Cordwainers' Company Archive currently has a varied collection of nearly 700 items of historical footwear ranging from the late 18th to late 20th centuries. Through purchase, gift and donation, this collection of contemporary footwear continues to grow and capture the innovative design, construction and manufacture processes of accomplished students and alumni. Based at the Stratford Campus, the archive serves to support both teaching and research of footwear design and construction.

Cathy Wills Sculpture Scholarship

The Cathy Wills Sculpture Scholarship of £14,600 is available to one student accepted on the MA Fine Art: Sculpture course at Camberwell College of Arts, MA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Arts or the MA Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins with the primary focus of their practice being to produce objects existing in three-dimension. The scholarship was created by Cathy Wills in honour of her late father Cecil in 2007, a lifelong collector and patron of the visual arts. Since its launch the Scholarship has supported over 20 sculptors on MA courses. Cathy Wills is an art historian, contemporary art collector, and curator who has been a supporter and advocate for artists for more than 40 years with a particular interest in patronising sculptors. Applications are welcomed from domestic and international students pursuing an MA Fine Art at Chelsea, MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, or MA Sculpture at Camberwell who would not be able to pursue their studies without external support. Capri Holdings Foundation Scholarships

The Capri Holdings Foundation Scholarships provide £94,455 for the duration of the course, including placement year, and are available to 7 Home students accepted on the first year of the full-time BA (Hons) Fashion Design or BA (Hons) Fashion Communication course starting in September 2026 at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. The Capri Holdings Foundation for the Advancement of Diversity in Fashion has partnered with Central Saint Martins to support students from historically under-represented communities studying on the BA Fashion and BA Fashion Communication courses. The scholarships will support students for the duration of their year in industry and final year, covering tuition and maintenance costs as well as placement-related expenses. The Capri Holdings Foundation Scholarships will open up opportunities for talented students from diverse backgrounds who might otherwise not be able to engage fully with an education in fashion. It is part of Capri Holdings pledge to advance equality and promote long-term change in the fashion industry. There are 5 awards available for BA (Hons) Fashion Design and 2 awards for BA (Hons) Fashion Communication. The scholarship will be assessed on the basis of financial need and creative potential. Applications are particularly welcome from students from traditionally under-represented communities who are in financial hardship and will benefit from undergraduate studies to realise their full potential.

AHRC fully funded Doctoral Landscape Studentship Awards

University of the Arts London (UAL) Doctoral Landscape Awards offer fully funded Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Studentships for PhD students joining UAL in September 2026. The studentship research topics will be co-designed and advertised with external partners, within the broad theme of place. Place-based research and place-making in the Arts offers a lens for understanding complex, interdisciplinary and lived issues. It is grounded in research in the experiences, histories and relationships of particular communities, environments and organisations. Working with partners, PhD researchers will explore how creative and artistic practices engage with, emerge from and create specific geographical, social and cultural contexts. The programme supports arts, design and communication researchers who are committed to making a difference through theoretically oriented or practice research. Advanced Learner Loans Bursary Fund

The Advanced Learner Loans Bursary Fund provides financial support to students who are aged 19 or older on the first day of starting the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course at University of the Arts London. The fund is provided by the UK Government via the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and operates under three categories: Hardship Bursary (for travel, equipment, books, course trips, and specialist clothing), Residential Bursary (up to £11,000 toward rental costs for students who need to live away from home), and Childcare Bursary for learners aged 20+ (up to 99% of childcare costs, maximum £175 per week per child in London or £165 per week per child outside London). Students must be considered Home fee status and be enrolled on a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course starting in September 2025.
